 FROM IZUSHI

The infinite world that spreads out from porcelain of Izushi, “Snow White”

IIn 1994, “Izushi porcelain Triennale" was held in Izushi-town, Izushi-county (existing Izushicho, Toyooka-city) as the national open exhibition with the intention of realizing that porcelain brings graces for Japanese life and also of promotion for the porcelain art, taking advantage of "the festival of Tajima / the ideal capital" having been held in Tajima area of northern Hyogo in the same year.

The Triennnale was carried out for five times, 15 years for total by 2006 and known as a peculiar exhibition for "the porcelain only" alone in the whole country afterwards.

With 39 awarded porcelain works, this exhibition examines the possibility of the new expression of porcelain using as art material. And the exhibition also introduces the master pieces of gorgeous white porcelain produced particularly after Meiji period, and works of Eishin Nagasawa III (1910-1977) who created modern but still traditional Izushi, Eishin Nagasawa IV (1938-) who is producing beautiful, honest white porcelain. “Whiter than Snow”, this exhibition shows the ultimate charm of white FROM IZUSHI.
